  181. India vs England: Kohli hits his 22nd Test centuryIndia captain Virat Kohli completed a notable personal milestone at Edgbaston on Thursday when he scored his first Test hundred in England. Kohli, one of the outstanding batsmen of his generation, managed just 134 runs in five Tests at an average of 13.4 on his maiden tour of England four years ago.But the now 29-year-old India skipper was on the way to surpassing that total in one innings during the second day's play of the series opener at Edgbaston. Kohli was on 97 when No 11 Umesh Yadav walked out to bat, with India 217 for nine in reply to England's first innings 287.But a late cut four off all-rounder Ben Stokes, his 14th boundary in 172 balls, saw Kohli to a 22nd Test hundred in what is the first of a five-match series.India has crossed the crucial 200 run mark on the second day of the first test against England even though it suffered a batting collapse as the home team. Virat Kohli kept the run clock ticking and is now close to his 22nd test century.Earlier, England's Left-arm seamer Sam Curran rocked the Indian top order with triple blow leaving the visitors reeling on 76 for three at lunch on the second day of the first Test. By tea time, India had lost 6 wickets.Young Curran (3/23) came in as first change to remove openers Murali Vijay (20), Shikhar Dhawan (26) along with no 3 KL Rahul (4) in a space of eight deliveries as India went from a solid start of 50 for no loss to 59 for 3.Earlier, England were dismissed for 287 on the second day of the first Test against India at Edgbaston on Thursday. It took India just 10 balls on Thursday to wrap up the hosts' first innings after England resumed on 285 for nine.Sam Curran fell for his overnight 24 after edging Mohammad Shami to wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik. James Anderson was two not out.England, who won the toss, had been well-placed at 216 for three on Wednesday thanks to a stand of 104 between captain Joe Root (80) and Yorkshire team-mate Jonny Bairstow (70).But the run out of Root by opposing captain Virat Kohli, who gave his England counterpart a colourful send-off that could yet land him in trouble with the match referee, changed the course of the first day's play. His exit, in England's 1,000th Test, sparked an all-too familiar batting collapse with the hosts losing six wickets for 67 runs. India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, belying his reputation for being a far worse performer outside the sub-continent, took four wickets on the first day and finished with innings figures of four for 62 in 26 overs.Meanwhile paceman Shami took three for 64 in 19.4 overs. This is the first of a five-match series.
  182. Lenovo chairman Yang Yuanqing says India business will grow to $5-6 billionChinese tech giant Lenovo hopes its India business will expand to USD 5-6 billion in size over the next few years, driven by growth across its PC, mobile phone and data centre verticals, a top company official said today.Yang Yuanqing, Chairman and CEO of Lenovo, said he was "satisfied" with the company's growth in the PC and tablet segment in the Indian market but admitted that Lenovo had "made some mistakes" with its smartphone portfolio."I think we are very satisfied with our PC and tablet business... There is definitely room to improve our smartphone business. We made some mistakes with the products in this market, so we have re-designed our products, so you will see, we will come back in the smartphone market," he added.Emphasising the importance of the market here, Yuanqing said India is among Lenovo's leading markets that include countries like China, the US, Japan and Brazil."I think India's potential is much... We would (want to) grow this to USD 5-6 billion, that's our ambition. In 3-5 years, we wish to grow to that," Yuanqing said. He, however, did not disclose the current size of the Indian operations.Talking about the Indian smartphone market, Yuanqing said the company is pursuing a dual brand strategy -- operating both Lenovo and Motorola brands -- in India, which will allow it to offer a combination of premium, mainstream and affordable devices.Affirming that the company will unveil more affordable devices, he said India is an important market and that the company will "not give up" on it.India is one of the largest smartphone markets globally. Samsung and Xiaomi dominate the Indian market, while players like vivo and Oppo also have strong market share. Lenovo was a part of the top 5 smartphone players in the country till a few quarters ago.Yuanqing said the company has been focussed on bringing quality products to customers, as well as expanding retail and service network in the country as it looks to get back among the top players in the next few years.
