  • Fuel prices continued the upward trend across the country on Tuesday as the petrol price was hiked by 0.12 paisa and diesel by Rs 0.16 in Delhi. After the revision, petrol is being sold at Rs 83.85 per litre and diesel is being retailed at Rs 75.25 per litre in the national capital. In Mumbai, petrol prices crossed Rs 90-run mark with the fuel being sold at Rs 91.20 per litre. The diesel price is Rs 79.89 per litre, increased by Rs 0.17. Fuel prices have been witnessing a steep rise since the past few months. Earlier, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the hike in the prices of petrol and diesel in the country was because of the depreciation in the value of the Indian Rupee against the US dollar.
  • BENGALURU: Bengaluru was home to yet another masterchef last weekend. Ben Ungermann, Masterchef Australia 2017 runner-up and ice-cream maestro, was in the IT city to launch a brunch at The Whitefield Arms pub. Besides giving a live demonstration of dishes like Dutch potato salad and salmon tartare, Ungermann ended the fare with what he is best known for â€" a boozy treat in a beer ice-cream with mascarpone, cinnamon biscuit crumb, salted butterscotch and vegetable chips. The 34-year-old was in Bengaluru as part of his tour covering Indonesia, South Africa, India, Dubai, Singapore and Netherlands. Ungermann’s largest following on Instagram after Australia is, apparently, in India (especially, Mumbai and Bengaluru).“I would love to open my ice-cream store in India and Bengaluru would be an incredible place for the launch. Bengaluru is known to be a high-tech city and open to unique foods which is a great fit for me as I don’t tend to do anything mainstream,” said Ungermann. The model-turned-celebrity chef opened his flagship ice-cream store in his hometown Ipswich (Australia) earlier this year. He loves to come up with unique flavour pairings in ice creams which include savoury versions such as Sambal ice-cream too.“My most offbeat ice-cream combination is lavender-honeycomb followed by pumpkin seed oil-vanilla. Our most popular one is salted caramel bacon pecan ice-cream,” said Ungermann. Not many know that, interestingly, dessert was considered to be his weak point at Masterchef. “At the competition, we were given a suggestion to focus on our weak areas. In my case, it was desserts. I worked hard at conquering it and found that I had a real knack for desserts, especially boutique ice-creams,” he said. Despite F&B creating innovations in all genres of cooking worldwide, Ungermann insists that ice-cream is still one of the things loved by all.“On a plated dessert, it is a centerpiece or it can stand alone by itself. Companies like Ben and Jerry’s, or Haagen Daas have been in the market for long. However, it is really the specialty boutique ice-cream brands that is taking the world by storm now,” said Ungermann.
