The company was referred to NCLT last year after accumulating a debt of over Rs 50,000 crore.In a series of tweets, the Ministry of Finance said fraudulent activities contributed to the company becoming insolvent.
245. NEW DELHI: Patanjali Ayurved could be overtaking India's FMCG market leader Hindustan Unilever as Baba Ramdev desires. In April last year, Ramdev said Patanjali's target was Rs 20,000 crore to Rs 25,000 crore turnover in the next three to five years. But it seems the company is far from the ambitious finishing line. It closed the last financial year at around the same level as the previous fiscal year’s revenue, Rs 10,000 crore.However, there could be a bigger worry for Patanjali than flat revenues. According to a recent Credit Suisse report, consumer offtake has declined in many product categories. While the company continues to hold sway over toothpastes with Dant Kanti, and in ghee, incremental gains in these categories are said to have declined. "Patanjali is facing headwinds with FY18 sales growth flat YoY after a 100% CAGR for the past four years. Several categories are seeing declining offtake levels, most prominent among them being honey and hair care. Even strong segments such as toothpaste are seeing market shares plateau," says the report. 1. Brand fatigue setting in due to the lack of renovationAccording to the report, Patanjali saw a massive surge in household penetration in calendar year 2017 from 27 per cent to 45 per cent, driven mainly by non-core users who bought into the ayurvedic and naturals positioning of the brand rather than core loyalists. “We are seeing many of these consumers lapsing out as the novelty value and buzz around the brand has gone down and other companies are offering similar products,” it said.2. Inability to crack general trade distributionPatanjali started out by selling its products from its own network of chikitsalayas and then spread to the general trade distribution. That's where it found itself pitched against giant incumbents such as Hindustan Unilever, Colgate and Nestle. According to an ET report, Patanjali products were available in 2016 in two lakh traditional retail outlets popularly called as kirana shops. That was 1/30th the presence of FMCG market leader Hindustan Unilever in the kirana universe (over 60 lakh outlets). For Colgate and Nestle, the numbers were 47 lakh and 35 lakh, respectively. According to a recent ET Prime report, Patanjali's own chikitsalaya network faces stress as the company is focusing on new distribution and trade channels. The report said Patanjali had developed an uncontrolled hunger for new distributors and new channels of trade, often at the expense of older allies. General trade distribution remains a challenge for the company. 3. MUMBAI: Jet Airways Founder Chairman Naresh Goyal today said he felt "guilty and embarrassed" as a lot of shareholders have lost their money, amid the airline's shares plummeting on financial woes.Stock of the full service carrier has slumped over 12 per cent since July 2 and in intra-day trading today, it touched a 52-week low of Rs 286.95 apiece.Addressing shareholders at the company's annual general meeting here, Goyal said competition as well as fuel prices are on the rise."Lots of shareholders have lost money, I feel guilty and embarrassed," he said.From its 52-week high price of Rs 883.65 scaled on January 5, 2018, shares of the company have tumbled 67.5 per cent to hit its one-year low of Rs 286.95 in intra-day trading today.Amid rising concerns over the airline's financial health and proposed salary reductions for employees, the Jet Airways Chairman said a new committee would be set up to improve public perception and negative publicity about it.All perceptions about the company will be corrected through a new executive committee. The airline's directors -- Naseem Zaidi and Ashok Chawla -- would be chairing the meetings of the new executive committee, Goyal said.While noting that the airline has a very strong code share network with partners globally, Goyal said it is also looking at cooperation with Air India in terms of engineering and flight operations.Several meetings have also been held with Air India Chairman and Managing Director Pradeep Singh Kharola, he added.

The real estate sector received an investment of around Rs 24,011 crore in the first half of 2018 due to rise in buyers' confidence on Rera implementation and improving capital values, a report said.IT parks and commercial real estate got the biggest investment share of USD 2,000 million or around Rs 13,151 crore, followed by retail real estate at around USD 300 million or Rs 1,898 crore, the joint report by industry body CII and property consultant JLL said today."In the first half of 2018, total investments in the sector stood at USD 3,616 million or around Rs 24,011 crore," the report said.The year 2017 witnessed some large deals between institutional investors and Indian companies, with private equity investments in real estate touching USD 44 billion, according to the report."We anticipate investment flows will continue on a healthy course. This has been substantiated by the H1 data of 2018 with cumulative PE investments crossing USD 45 billion," it said.Home sales velocity in the first half of 2018 rose by 25 per cent year-onyear, which according to the report can be attributed to returning buyers' confidence on account of implementation of Rera in most states and stable capital values, which have started to show an upward trend.JLL India chief executive officer and country head Ramesh Nair said this has been the trend despite the fact that the Reserve Bank of India has increase the repo rate in its August monetary policy review, making home loans dearer."As more and more developers register with Rera, we anticipate residential markets to pick up pace," he added.The first half of 2018 saw corporate leasing activity rise by a 54 per cent year-on-year, driven by large technology companies, co-working, financial services and global in-house data centres.Companies leased around 24 million sq ft of office space in the first half, around eight million sq ft more than in H1 2017, according to the report.Bengaluru and NCR contributed the most to this growth, with a 26 per cent share each."This trend... is a reflection of the current thriving business environment. Occupiers are not only inclined towards space take-up as part of their consolidation/relocation plans but also geared towards expansion-driven space strategy which points towards an upswing in the business cycle," said Nair.In the retail real estate sector, net absorption rose over 75 per cent to 1.9 million sq ft in H1 2018.
